This great photograph from the 1948 Flood was used in the Do You Remember Column years ago by Bob Gunter. It shows a ‘boil’ on Bonner Street to the west of the Spokane International/Union Pacific Railroad ‘viaduct.’ Notice the fill dirt/sand being delivered by the Kootenai River dike. The Mighty Kootenai River didn’t always spill over its banks sometimes it seeped through the soil and bubbled up to create a boil.
