This “Great-Walking Spinning Wheel” was recently donated to the Museum. The “drive wheel” measures forty-nine inches in diameter. To use this wheel, the person spinning stands during the process, continuously walking away from the spindle to draft and then toward the spindle to wind. This has been likened to a “rhythmic dance.”
