June 5th, National Moonshine Day – Here is some history from the BF Herald dated April 8, 1926:
Moonshine in the Raw
“Nine sacks of sugar and three sacks of corn were sold at public auction at the county sheriff’s office Tuesday. Earl Miller, of the immigration department, was the official auctioneer. The sugar and corn were seized recently in a raid on a moonshining outfit. The first sack of sugar sold for $3.75 and the others brought varying prices up to $5.65, the amount bid for the last sack sold. The corn brought $1.55 and $1.70 a sack. The total proceeds of the sale were $46, which will go into the county school fund.”
