Along with publishing the newspaper, during the 1940s through 1980s, the Bonners Ferry Herald was a print shop. A customer could have just about anything printed. From menus, letterhead, envelopes, and wedding invitations to business receipts. Well, on July 16, 1980, Jack Douglas, running his campaign for “County Attorney,” ordered 500 pens and 1,000 balloons at a cost of $187.60.
We know this, because hundreds of envelopes were donated to the Museum. An inventory of the envelopes and contents is being created by a hard working volunteer. She opened this envelope and was excited to see that it did contain one pen and one balloon. What a find!
