Celebrate the Semiquincentennial

The Museum is presenting a Special Exhibit for the 250 year Celebration!

The opening of the exhibit will be held June 4th at the Museum. The exhibit will be open 10AM – 3PM during normal open days, Thursday, Friday & Saturday until August 29th.

As the United States of America celebrates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, marking America’s Semiquincentennial, we have a unique opportunity to reflect upon our beginnings as a nation.

Two hundred and fifty years ago, delegates from the thirteen self-proclaimed United States of America signed the Declaration of Independence and changed the world. The signers gambled their lives on the future of a new nation, uncertain of what would follow as the ink dried.

The “Moments That Made US” exhibit (18 panels) illustrates the history and photographs of the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho, the United States of America, State of Idaho, and Boundary County.

Moments That Made US explores these founding principles and shares multiple perspectives from some of the most significant moments in our region’s history. It shows how the nation has advanced the founders’ ideals, inviting us to reflect on what it means to be American.

Additional features on display during the exhibit:

  • 4th Grade Land Surveying Art
  • US Flag flown over the Capitol in Washington, D.C.
  • Quilt and Wall Hanging by 9B Quilters
  • Digital Frame with Music and JFK
