Article from the BF Herald – July 16, 1981:
“The preservation of the history of Boundary County is being enriched in a beautiful manner at Stan and Georgia DeHart’s drug store.
The DeHarts have commissioned Bonners Ferry artist Bette Myers to create oil paintings of early settlers and early-day prominent Boundary County citizens. Bette has completed three paintings, Harry and Osmond Plato and Doc Fry.
Stan had the idea for the painting series after he attended a gift show in Toronto where pioneer paintings were displayed.
He had 24 names on the original list of subjects, but it has mushroomed to 36 people. Hunting down old photographs that she can paint from is sometimes difficult for Bette.
She is also compiling a history of the subjects she will paint to be collected in a brochure. The paintings are being displayed at the DeHart Drug Store in downtown Bonners Ferry.
After they retire, the DeHarts plan to donate the paintings to the Boundary County Historical Society Museum.”
The total number of paintings became 40. They can be seen at the Museum in Portrait Hall.
