Annual Meeting Notes

On Tuesday, January 10, 2023 the Annual Meeting of the Historical Society was held at the Museum.

All reports were approved for the 2022 year.

Report of Trustees Election:
Dave Gray was re-elected for a 3-year term.
Dottie Gray was re-elected for a 3-year term.

Refreshments were served.


The Museum’s mission is achieved with the aid of memberships, the community, and the support of the County. Appreciation to all who have renewed their 2023 memberships.   If you wish to renew, click HERE to print the membership form.

Looking Ahead…

We look forward to greeting new and returning visitors and tour groups, providing historical and educational  programs, holding our annual  fund raising dinner and auction, and having all around good fun at the Museum; Thurs.- Sat. 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Gary Eller returns in 2023 with his newest Idaho Songs Project:  “Songs, Poems, and Stories of the Early Idaho Panhandle.”

The year end Society Activities report as presented at the Annual Membership Meeting


The Trustees, Staff, and Volunteers stayed busy in 2022. Here is a summary of what happened:

Membership:   Membership in 2022–175 members; Memberships for 2023 — 82 members (to date)

Membership Dues collected in 2022 – $5,215

Fundraising:   A Night for the Museum Dinner/Auction; 2022 Historical Calendar; Small Towns, Big Dreams – 755 books                     have moved out of the building; Gift Shop; VFW Christmas Craft Fair; increased support from Boundary County  Commissioners and Glenda Poston, County Clerk

 

Grants:

*          Idaho Humanities Council Inquiring Idaho Grant, Songs Project (Gary Eller) – $995

 

Special Events:

*            Idaho Day – Mining Boundary County – Lazy Susan Mine activities & booklets, hard hats, flashlights

*            School Tours – Fourth grade packets containing: Faces of History, Museum bookmark, pencil, scavenger hunt,  and an “Idaho” cookie

*          Spring into Summer Mining program – Speakers: Gary Regehr and Dr. Jim Richardson; tours of “Lazy Susan Mine;” cookie and gold mining; lunch served in Railroad Courtyard

*          Idaho Humanities Council Board and Staff toured Museum on June 9; applauded the Museum

*            Mountain View Mennonite Cemetery Tour – 70 people attended; admission shared with the Church

 

Partnered with:

*            GROW – Little Free Garden project

*          Bonners Ferry Herald – “This Week in History” and “From the Archives”

*            Coeur d’Alene Press – Republishing “Anglin’ with Anglen”

*            9B Trails – The Riverside Park Trail – historic information – photos and text for trail panels; Museum completed                     our part of project

*            Kootenai Tribe, Human Rights Task Force – Native American Heritage Month – viewed “Idaho’s Forgotten                      War”

*            BF Rotary lunch meeting in Portrait Hall

*           Idaho State Treasurer’s Assoc. Conference Dinner – Portrait Hall; 100 attendees received 2023 calendars

 

Updated Policies:

            *            Job Description – Museum Curator

            *            Volunteer Application/Information form

 

Temporary Exhibit:

*             “Lazy Susan Mine” – Spring and Summer exhibit; now removed

 

Museum Building Maintenance:

*             Resealing of roof drains in Portrait Hall – BF Builders
