“Let’s Get Territorial”

March 4, 2013, marks the 150th anniversary of the creation of Idaho Territory. Kootenai Tribal Chair Jennifer Porter, Boundary County Commission chair Dan Dinning and Bonners Ferry Mayor David Anderson are proclaiming this date in commemoration of a yearlong statewide recognition of Idaho’s  Territorial Sesquicentennial.

An “Essential Idaho: 150 Things That Make the Gem State Unique” exhibit at the State Historical Museum will feature 150 items nominated from  organizations and individuals across Idaho representing Idaho’s diverse landscape, remarkable people, and fascinating history. This exhibition will open  on March 4, 2013, in Boise. The Boundary County Museum is participating by having sent a sturgeon hook from its local collection. The  Boundary County Historical Society and Museum will be providing a “Let’s Get Territorial” program for District 101 Fourth Grades on March 4.  An evening event will be held on Saturday, March 9, in the Museum’s Portrait Hall,  beginning at 7 p.m.

A $5 donation is requested at the door.

At 7 p.m. Friday, May 24, Idaho State Historian
Keith Petersen will travel to Bonners Ferry for
a special evening program titled “Inventing
Idaho,” to be held at the museum’s Portrait
Hall. Mark your calendars!
